The Great McDonald’s Fries and Milkshake Debate

As I’m typing this right now, there’s a debate going on on twitter about milkshake and fries. Nothing about my milkshake bringing the boys to the yard, no, it’s all about dipping your fries in your milkshake.

No *rolls eyes*, NOT a euphemism.

This conversation with my awesome moustachio’d friend just took place. (start at the bottom and read upwards)

And then we were inundated with some of the most RANDOM food combos I had EVER SEEN.

There were people with milkshake specifics.

I can’t even remember them all so here are the ones I caught:

*GAG*

Wtf?

Er – pb and marmite ISN’T fkdup shit, @producerjodie???

Er – no.

I can get this. But no.

Girl you are SHITTING me.

And then…well…then came visuals. (click to see the fucked-up-ness)

Now if you will just excuse me, I’m off to go and mix all this stuff up together and give it to the boys for tea. Unless you want to add some more suggestions below of course. There might be a prize for the one that makes me ralph the most.*

* Not.

Never, I had to steel myself to come back here to look at the comments. I am frightened that my lunch may reappear on my desk if I look any further down the comments.

hahaha saw some of this unfolding on Twitter and it made me chuckle. My mum and brother both consider jam and cheese sandwiches as perfectly normal so I bet they'd be up for the toasties… My brother is a fries-in-milkshake guy too so you aren't alone there. Mum also has cheese with cake, which I just think is a bit odd.

Worst I do is sugar on toast in the morning. Nom!

I think I might try the cheese and jam toastie. I like cheese. I like jam. I like toast. What isn't there to like?

Sugar and toast is good too. As is tomatoes dipped in sugar. And beetroot & sugar. And raw potato and sugar…

But – see- hold on – you get Banana milkshakes???? and they call them milkshakes???? not thickshakes??? or just 'shake" ??? we only get choc/strwb/vanilla- and vanilla was hard fought for over many summers (seriously – they would bring new milkshake flavours in for summer then phase them out- evryone objected so much when they did this twice with vanilla we get to have it whenever we want!)
But yes, chips in shake – all good.
Also Kaluha in shake good way to get *coughalcoholcough* into cinema or *coughschoolcough*
I do cheese and apple which many find odd.
    and cheese with strawberries.

Oh yes! But McD's milkshakes are VERY thick – very much like slightly watery ice-cream. YUMMM. (we get the watery ones too, but they're just gross.)

      Cheese and apple – yes.
Cheese and strawberries – er EW.

errr Milkshakes are just awful anyway I think. I can't drink milk but if I could I don't think I'd dip chips in it. But I did used to eat digestives with tomato puree on them as a child.

  7. Comic, to say the least. Sad I missed it! My contribution would have been the banana and crisp sandwiches we ate as children. Not now of course. I prefer cheese and crisp sandwiches.

I’m definitely going to try the cheese & jam toastie. But there’s nothing better than stilton on a chocolate digestive biscuit. Though marmalade & marmite on toast is pretty tasty

I admit! I am a complete fries in the milkshake dipper! My absolute fav is going to Wendy's (I don't know if they have Wendy's across the pond) but they have a malt flavored shake. No chocolate, no vanilla – just malt. They also have thick fries so you can really scoop up massive Wendy's shake on their fries. Mmmm…maybe that'll be lunch.

Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew. No, those are gross (although have helped with my diet by putting me off food).

The only "weirdness" I do (according to Elder) is I take the batter or crumb off my fish or the pastry on a pie and eat it separately. Or I have breakfast cereal with no milk. And I don't like tomato but will eat pizza and bolognaise, and plonk tomato puree in my food. Those aren't that weird though, are they?

  13. hahaha!!! love it!!

my mate got me and my brother eating ketchup sandwiches when we were small. just two bits of bread with tomato ketchup in them… and my wee boy now likes them!

when I was pregnant with D, my craving was beetroot in jars… eating away at a jar one day, D's dad got out jaffa cakes so I asked him for one, and then dipped it into the jar of the pickled beetroot so it soaked up into the jaffa then ate it… D's dad and my mum were pretty astonished haha! Then I took it the step further of dipping the jaffa to soak up the "juice" then laying the jaffa on top of a piece of beetroot and cutting it up and eating them together…. It was major YUMMY! However post-pregnancy I tried it again… and it gave me the boak! =D

I don't need to be pregnant to eat beetroot out of jars, and dip bread in the juice…

Maybe I should try the jaffa cake.

  16. Wondering what's wrong with me, quite a few of these I'm thinking, "and what's wrong with that?"

My strangest ever combo I've come across remains Enid Blyton's Malory Towers talking about sardines pressed into gingerbread. Fish and cake? WTF?!

  18. When I met my OH, a long, LONG time ago I had to rescue him as his cupboards were bare and his flatmate and he were eating custard and mustard sandwiches. I came to the rescue with Heinz tomato soup and cheese and MARMITE (know you love that one) sandwiches…reader, I married him!

Malteser sandwich, anyone? Or melted mars bar on toast. Or, in fact, deep fried mars bar, which is not a myth (though I wasn't mad about it when I tried it).

Mince and potatoes, mashed together, in a sandwich.

It's all about the bread for me. Ah bread. How I love thee.
