Innocent Drinks and Not-So-Innocent Kids

*sort-of sponsored post*

The fruit consumption in our house is IMMENSE. To say we’re all pretty regular, is, uh, an understatement. Added to that, in previous years I have LOVED growing my own fruit. Strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blueberries, apples, pears, cherries – SO MUCH FRUIT. I as gutted to stop when I got pregnant; I could barely move, The Smalls were born, their toys took over the garden and this blogging/photography malarky took over.

A PR from Innocent Drinks got in touch and offered me a pressie in return for pimping them a bit. Now, I’ll be honest, those smoothies and drinks are like the ULTIMATE fruit treat in our house. They didn’t tell me what the pressie was going to be, but yeah, I very nearly bit their hand off anyway. I don’t mind doing a spot of pimping for something I think is going to be worthwhile.

AND LOOK WHAT THEY SENT!!!

(Clickem to Biggem)

It’s a dwarf orange tree! I may have squealed with excitement when it arrived. The minuscule oranges are currently edible (as already enjoyed by myself and The Smalls; they taste a bit like kumquats) and they also sent some vouchers to go try their carafes of orange and apple juice. *slurp*

Now, I have two kiddos. Two VERY INQUISITIVE kiddos.

Inquisitive AND curious.

I’ve always wanted to teach them about growing stuff; we’ve planted sunflowers already (which are freaking huge despite us being rubbish at remembering to water them), so for them to see oranges growing on a tiny little tree was brilliant. Remember how I said I’m all for natural environment education? Well yeah. Here we are.

They’re learning where everything comes from, and after a brief explanation to Noah about how the fruits on the tree are squeezed, pressed and pulped into smoothies and juices, they were both quite happy to sit down and sample some.

I LOVE that they’ll wolf down fruit in any way shape or form. Thank you so much to Innocent Drinks for this awesome treat – rest assured we’ll be stocking up for the summer. Now really, you need to go shake the tree now, and win stuff. We just won a free carafe of orange juice. *slurrrrrrrrrp*
