So, after tweeting my link to my recent Silent Sunday post, quite a few people seemed interested. If you haven’t got a clue what I’m talking about, then allow me to explain.
For me, Silent Sunday is just one picture, posted on a Sunday, with no words. It can be a photograph of absolutely anything you like. It doesn’t have to be anything in particular, and can have been taken at any time in the previous week. Many of my Silent Sundays lately have been taken on the same Sunday of posting..but that’s not always the case.
It’s not Blipfoto where you can ONLY post one photo (and it must have been taken on the same day). It’s not The Gallery, where you have to post a photo relating to a theme. It’s not anything specific…
It’s just a photo. The only guidelines? The only rules? No words. If you MUST put words then, uh, they can’t get in the way. It’s all about the picture. Just the picture. That’s it. No other rules. And it’s a picture of anything you like.
Is it something that sums up your Sunday? Something that struck you in the previous week? A photo you took which you thought “that’s just epic. It doesn’t even NEED words, I just want to show it off; to showcase it”? Then Silent Sunday is the place that works best for me.
I did a post a while back over on the PhotogBlog about Silent Sunday’s, why I stopped, and I why I started back up again. I’m rubbish at discipline with photography; I’ve always been one to break rules where possible. I don’t want to restrict myself because I can’t function that way, and I don’t like abiding to rules because, well, where’s the creativity? When the world is your canvass, free to do with it what you will, why not take that opportunity?
So…enough rambling. Would you like to join me in Silent Sunday? If enough are interested, I’m happy to put up a McLinky. If one jumps out at me, or even if you just ask me, can I feature your photo over on the PhotogBlog? Maybe do an article on it? Let me know your thoughts…
